Which class of organisms (plant or animal) would be expected
to have the greater tolerance range for
temperature changes?
The species that would be expected to have a greater tolerance range to changing temperatures would be animal species. Plant species need a specific amount of water and sunlight to be able to survive, of course over a period of time they are able to adapt to the changing conditions but they can not survive without having their requirements met. Animals species are different however because they are able to make changes to their body to suit the changes in temperature; for example animals that have a thick coat are able to moult their hair off when temperatures increase, animals are able to get more water themselves to drink to cool themselves down when they are hot. And the same when it begins to get colder they are able to grow hair to make a thick coat to keep themselves warm. This then affects their tolerance range for changing temperatures, as they are able to withstand a wider range of temperature. Plants are unable to grow a thicker coat and go for a swim in the water when the temperatures change which does not allow them to grow at the same rate in the changing temperatures
